Erin D. Moore is a graduate of Fine
Arts at SUNY Purchase College in New York. While there, she built
an extensive background in photography, painting, drawing, sculpting,
and modeling, which paved the way to her most favorite art form,
mosaics.
Erin has been working as a decorative
painter throughout the metropolitan area for the past ten years.
Her techniques include: glazing, textures, Venetian plaster, damask/stenciling,
gold/silver leafing, antiquing, and handpainting.
Plying her trade in some of the most
beautiful and exclusive homes and restaurants in New York and
New Jersey, she later added tiling kitchens and bathrooms to her
repertoire. Working with these materials inspired Erin to translate
her many skills and overall artistic vision to the mosaic art
form. She began creating her uniquely signature mirrors, candleholders,
pots and portraits as birthday, holiday, wedding or anniversary
gifts for family and friends. In 1999 she displayed her creations
for the first time professionally in several art shows and sold
dozens of items. Requests soon followed, and now with the advent
of this web site, her incredible pieces now have an international
audience.
Each of Erin's pieces is handcrafted
and meticulously assembled from various tiles and textures in
a myriad of colors and configurations. Working in ceramic, marble,
glass, stone, relic and more, many of the designs are accented
with stone and marbles to add several eye-catching dimensions.
Some of Erin's influences in the
art field range from the classically sweeping style of Michelangelo
to the mercurial, Pablo Picasso, all the way to more modern interpretations
by Frida Kahlo, Henry Miller, and her friend and fellow painter/singer/songwriter,
Dan Bern. She and Bern recently finished a painting project together
in New York City. Erin provided graphic, mosaic and photograph
work for two of the last three books by author James
Campion who is a columnist for the Aquarian Weekly and also
Erin's husband.
